A systematic revision of the genus Neolepton in southern South America has been carried out. Neolepton concentricum, N. cobbi, N. hupei and N. falklandicum are redescribed and figured, and lectotypes for N. concentricum and N. bennetti are designated. Three new species are described, two from the Magellanic Province (N. amatoi new species and N. yagan new species) and one from the Argentine Province (N. bonaerense new species). The presence of N. umbonatum in Magellanic waters is considered doubtful. Some of the reproductive characteristics and peculiarities of the brooding behaviour of N. concentricum are described.
